We were ask to do a bonus track for a special edition of the album.
At this moment Diego was talking to me about doing some accoustic Venturia versions if we have a showcase or a gig in a bar one day.
As I had fun to play some of our songs with the accoustic guitar only, the more I was playing and singing “Take me down”, the more I was thinking about playing this song in a total different way.
And of course, I couldn’t stop thinking about making it growing stronger and stronger and the accoustic wouldn’t be enough for that…It would need more balls at one moment 
So, the idea of doing a different version of this song, first with the accoustic guitar and then with everybody plugged and with distorsion could be a good idea for a bonus track.
We recorded our parts at home in accordance with the demo I did before.
One more time I sent Carryl my guitar files who did the reamping technique again and Diego recorded his drums at Artsonik too.
Carryl: I don’t have the words to thank you enough for your help…
We went to Lydie’s house to record her voice with my talentuous and great friend Fabien Paraillac (he did the recording of the accoustic guitars and the mix of the song too.)
I think this new version has something very special, it’s a slower version ,with sad, dark, sensual and grandiose vibes.
Only Lydie is singing this song and it sounds amazingly great…As usual.
(Marc was in NY and we didn’t have the budget to make him come in France and record with us)
The guitar solo I played is one of my favorite: it’s not as sophisticated as the ones in “Hybrid” but it sounds more spontaneous, full of passion and sadness…

Il nous a été demandé de faire une titre supplémentaire pour une édition spéciale de l’album.
A ce moment là, Diego m’exposait son idée de préparer un set acoustique si nous étions amener à le faire un jour.
Je me suis donc amusé à chanter et à jouer quelques uns de nos titres mais concernant “Take me down” je l’entendais de plus en plus évoluer avec une instrumentation différente. Je l’imaginais évoluer avec d’autres sons et bien sûr avec de la distortion…On ne se refait pas
A partir d’un moment, j’ai pensé que cette idée serait très bien à concrétiser pour ce bonus track.
J’ai donc enregistré une démo et nous (Thomas et moi-même) avons enregistré nos parties chez nous en fonction de la démo.
J’ai envoyé mes fichiers de guitares afin que Carryl enregistre selon la technique du réamping (expliquée dans un article plus bas et Diego a fait ses parties également à Artsonik.
Encore un grand merci à toi Carryl….
Nous sommes allés chez Lydie pour l’enregistrer avec mon ami O combien talentueux Fabien Paraillac (qui a également enregistré les parties acoustiques et qui a fait le mix de ce titre.) .
Cette nouvelle version de “Take me down” a vraiment quelque chose de spécial.
Elle est à la fois plus lente, plus sombre, triste, sensuelle tout en dégageant une ambiance de grandeur.
Seule Lydie chante sur ce titre et comme d’habitude , elle l’a transcendé par son talent et son ressenti…
(Marc étant à New-York et les sous nous manquant pour le faire venir à cette seule occasion)
Le solo que j’ai enregistré sur ce titre est un de mes préférés, il n’est pas aussi sophistiqué que la majorité de ceux d’ “Hybrid” mais il est plus spontané, empli de passion et de tourment (beaucoup moins shred)…C’était d’ailleurs un de mes regrets à l’écoute finale d’”Hybrid”: un solo de la sorte me manquait….
Now the album is ready to be released but for commercial reasons the release date is set for Sepember the19th.
Sparkling, Why?, Pearls of Dawn and Love gamers were mixed by Carryl Montini and the rest of the album was mixed by Kevin Codfert.
They really did an great job, the production of the album is a step higher than the one on the previous album.
We can’t wait to share your opinion with us about this album we’re extremly proud about.
We are 4 monthes from the release date….It’s time to focus on new songs and projects and of course we’re thinking about the tour we intend to begin for Autumn.

Hi everybody
Sorry for not giving news in a long time. We spent a looot of time to practice to be ready for this new recording session.
We spent the last 5 days at Artsonik media and we (Diego, Thomas and myself ) finished all the parts of the album on time.
As usual, we didn’t have a lot of sleep, and we truly feel that we gave 150 % of ourselves. There were some really crazy parts to play and many things to arrange and change at the last moment.
We tried many different amps and Carryl Montini did the best guitar sound we ever heard. This album has everything to sound huge!
Thomas and I were recording with our computer the missing (or new) parts in studio B while Diego was recording his crazy grooves in studio A (Ok, I spent all my nights to record the best solos I could play too) Then, we brang our takes to Carryl who put everything in the Pro-tools session.
It was funny to record this way: anywhere we wanted to do it and put our best takes into the amps and focus only on the sound in the studio right after.
The reamping technique really do works and is great to save time, money and sound engineers patience.
So far…..everything has been recorded but the keyboards. We still have to work on some new sounds.
The mix is going to begin very soon

Désolé de ne pas avoir donné de news plus souvent, mais nous avons passé beaucoup de temps à préparer cette nouvelle session.
Nous avons donc passé ces 5 derniers jours à Artsonik studio et avons finalement terminé l’enregistrement de nos instruments préférés.
Comme d’habitude, nous avons très peu dormi mais avons le sentiment d’avoir donné 150 % de nous mêmes: parties de timbrés à réaliser et plein de petits changements de dernière minute…
Nous avons essayé plusieurs amplis et Carryl a fait le meilleur son de guitare que nous avons jamais entendu!!!!
L’album est sur la voie pour avoir un son réellement incroyable.
Thomas et moi-même enregistrions nos parties manquantes dans le studio B pendant que Diego se déchainait dans le studio A (bon, ok, nous montions très régulièrement afin d’écouter ses prises et le flatter comme il se doit
Bon, j’ai egalement passé mes nuits à enregistrer les meilleurs solos possibles….
Une fois nos prises validées, nous les amenions à Carryl de façon à les transferer dans les amplis et dans les sessions pro-tools.
C’était assez amusant de proceder ainsi: enregistrer n’importe où avec nos ordis puis, ne focaliser que sur le son au studio.
Cette technique de reamping fonctionne vraiment et est incroyablement pratique pour économiser du temps, de l’argent et les nerfs de l’ingé-son…
A ce jour, tout est enregistré, sauf les claviers sur lesquels un gros boulot va être fait ses prochains jours.
Le mix doit effectivement commencer très bientôt
Here it is: we did the first studio recordings of the year today.
We’re extremly happy and proud to have singer Gustavo Monsanto as special guest on the album.
Gus is a close friend of us and he accepted my invitation to put some backing vocals on the song “hottest ticket in town”.
Gus put some screams during the chorus part of the song, it’s cool to have Marc and Gus singing on this record as the 2 guys already played a bunch of gigs together in the states .
And of course I am extremly touched and honored to have one of my best friends and one of the best singers I’ve ever met singing on this album.
I recorded the accoustic guitars too ( I realized that there’s not gonna be a lot of accoustic on this album, and most of time it’s Diego who thinks that accoustic instrument would fit in the songs….Cool in a way as it pushes me to do it as I don’t feel very confortable with this instrument)

Ok, almost everything has already been programmed for a long time now, but I have to practice my solos, rythmic guitars and keyboard sounds during january.
For a question of time and to be more efficient: All the keyboards and loops are midi programmed and of course, I will change many things as I just got new virtual keys and effects
Regarding the guitars, we’ll use the reamping technic: the direct signal will be recorded at home (isn’t it great?) and injected later in different amps at Carryl’s studio.
Choosing the best sounds and the recording will take a while and we’ll only have 5 days to record everything (with the 4 songs Diego and Thomas didn’t do on the 1st session).
Only the solos will be recorded old school
Regarding the solos, I wrote almost everything…old school too: with a pen and some paper…see picture underneath
( Thank you dear Lucille for the great writing-pad I had for christmas )
I’m playing on the loops until something cool is coming out, then I write it so I don’t forget the good ideas and it will be a great guide to work too as I don’t like to keep what’s too natural for my fingers and my brain.
So, I have to go to practice as it’s far far to be good yet
A mon tour de préparer les enregistrements de guitares et de claviers…
Bon, il est vrai que 90% des parties sont écrites depuis un bon moment déjà, mais j’ai tout le mois de janvier pour bosser mes solos (fraîchements écrits), mes rythmiques et les sons de claviers.
Pour une économie de temps évidente et pour plus d’efficacité: tous les synthés et loops sont programmés midi, mais bien évidemment, je vais revenir sur certains sons et arrangements étant donné que je me suis approprié de nouveaux synthés virtuels et autres effets
Concernant les guitares, nous allons utiliser la technique de ré-amping: Le signal direct des guitares sera enregistré chez moi (quel confort, n’est ce pas?) puis réinjecté plus tard dans differents amplis chez Carryl à Artsonik. Le choix des sons et l’enregistrement prendront pas mal de temps et nous n’aurons que 5 jours pour tout faire (y compris les 4 titres basse/batterie restants).
Seuls les solos seront enregistrés….à l’ancienne
Concernant ces derniers: je les ai quasiment tous écrits….à l’ancienne également, voir photo

je tourne les boucles et joue par dessus jusqu’à ce que de bonnes idées ressortent. Je les écris ensuite pour ne pas oublier et surtout les travailler car je garde rarement ce qui coule naturellement sous les doigts.
Allez, j’y retourne car à ce jour, c’est pas encore vraiment ça

We spent this moment of the year with our friends and family and some of us were on stage with cover bands to make some money.
We had a deadline and have to finish the record (cover, mixing, mastering…) before late february. As Marc and Lydie finished their work (there’s only 1 phrase we forgot to record!!!), it’s up to the musicians, sound engineers and art designers to hardly work until late february)

Nous avons passé les fêtes en famille et/ou entre amis, certains d’entre nous étaient sur scène afin de gagner sa vie.
Nous avons reçu une date limite pour finir l’album (enregistrement, mix, mastering et réalisation pochette) tout devra être prêt fin fevrier.
Etant donné que Marc et Lydie ont rempli leur mission (nous avons quand même oublié une phrase importante de Lydie dans Sparkling Rain!!!), c’est aux musiciens, ingénieurs du son et infographistes de bosser jusqu’à fin fevrier.
